You are driving on the freeway alone at the last stop you dropped your phone
You were mad as hell no way to call home except to yell
The 18-wheeler was moving fast down the road it was Christmas Eve and you were hauling a heavy load
You wanted to get home to your beautiful wife who thinks you’re a stud and likes to drink ice cold bud
Then there were your 3 gorgeous kids all waiting for their dad 300 miles away in a blizzard you began to cry how sad
You then put it in high gear you caught the scent you had no fear
Up those mountains you went as fast as a Ford mustang but your rug was shaking you made a promise to your kids and your wife that you be home before the sunrise on Christmas Day a promise you planned on making
The weather the roads or anything else will have to pay the price if they keep you from trucking along on this day
So, you began to sing a song to get you moving along
Your wife wrote this for you when you got hired you are the reason why I wake up every day so I don’t get fired
Those long nights on the road when I get tired, I drink my coffee in a cup nice and hot to keep me wired
Then I take the picture of you and the kids put on my window then the truck begins to hum and glow
I see your beautiful face I work hard not to be a disgrace
300 miles from phoenix but you can bet that I will never quit and my mind is set
I have driven over 1000 mile to hold my wife and see my kids smile
You had two full tanks and you have not taken a bath you just stank
You were doing 80 coming down the mountain that was covered in ice cars were everywhere in ditches not very nice
You didn’t stop you had to be in phoenix by sunrise all of a sudden, the mountain came down on your truck and you were surprised
You thought this was the end and you were starting to say goodbye but fate did not want you to die
You just put that pedal to the metal and went right through that rock slide You closed your eyes and began saying good bye to you bride
There was no way you made it through but fate was on your side nothing touched you
You kept on trucking down that avenue because you already know what’s on the menu
It was getting close to sunrise your wife and kids are outside waiting not even surprised
They knew you be home on time as you rolled in the drive way with pride you kissed your wife hugged your kids and you walked inside
You drove 300 miles to phoenix in the snow and ice you just smiled
300 miles. to phoenix
300 miles to phoenix
