S

-350,000 miles all of them mine-

You see an old, beat up grand am
With uncut grass hiding flat
Low profile tires
A small tree growing in the hole
Where the engine should
Be, but isn't
Cherry red, although its faded
I remember what she looked
Like. She looked like my first
Car.
For a while she was my home
Away from home
A safe haven
A music box
Where I got lucky
where I through fits of rage
and screamed by myself
at myself
I'm sitting outside right now
 In my 'new' used ride,
Another grand am
2004 though
I know I have things to do
And
I know I have responsibilities
But
I was feeling down and needed a
Smile
So even though
the inside feels 120°
There's no AC
I'm sweating my balls off
And only two
Of the four windows work
I've got the seat reclined
All the way, some metal
 Playing loudly
The guttural screaming and
Cigarette smoke
Brings a genuine
Smile to my face
Welcome to my humble abode
