A

3am

its 3am and I'm thinking about my life
all the mistakes, all the rights,
all the wrongs, all the fights
Whether it's yesterday or tomorrow
you may ask about today
but it's filled with sorrow
I'm tired of being awake
again it's 3am, I should sleep
But as of this moment I'm sick of counting sheep
If I should die today
Tell the world the things that I could never say
As if by saying them now
Ive somehow said them time and time again
As if yesterday was when I could say something to today
That way the world can hear me as loud
and as clear as the year the world discovered
I was so before my time that my time left me behind to
remind time that I'm here today to say that I made this timeline
That if somehow time was a train
That i was always too late to catch
Like time was a dog
That didn't want to play fetch
If time was a dog
I was a cat
If time was a train
I was the track
Whether it was time for this or time that
I spent every day, every hour, to every minute
I looked for every way
To find that power
And pin it
From youth
To the future
Just like a church it needed a preacher
From time to eternity
Its hard to not take things personally
From pain to power
And gain to tower over the ones who stayed asleep
it's 3am, I'm tired
it feels just like a job
I'm about to be fired
talk is cheap in these times
Like it's cheap enough to be a crime
I don't know if it's my crime
if it is I should be kind
And get off with a warning
I don't know why I'm mourning
for something I didn't want to commit
But i guess I'll have to submit
To this crime
but i don't know if I'm just standing here
Wasting my time
