They said I was a danger
To myself and others
So they locked me away
While my protests were smothered
They stripped me bare
And looked at my scars
Then put me in a place
Where the windows had bars
They took my shoelaces
Then took my belt
No suicide here
Things need to be felt
Some people seemed normal
But most seemed deranged
But fuck it, I thought,
We're all a bit strange
The doctors are robots
They say we need meds
Who the fuck are you
But a shrink of heads
We all stood in line
To pour pills down our throats
The nurses they smiled
Sometimes seemed to gloat
I saw padded cells
And the thought made me cringe
Then came straight jackets
And my thoughts came unhinged
I swear I'm not crazy
Get me out of this place
Panic engulfed me
My thoughts they did race
It wasn't til then
I realized my fault
You gotta play them
You gotta be smart
Take all your pills
Say your life has been changed
Then the docs deem you normal
Instead of too strange.
