Since when did kindness become a task?
It was the day that humanity had to reminded...
When they fiddled with what the lord gave us.
And when greed, transcended needs.
On floor, the one who made mansions laid,
while the exploiters on lavish beds stayed.
Charity is a righteous deed they said,
But the greed for rewards lay instead.
Help the needy in change for heaven,
'Kindness takes courage', preached the craven.
Since the time is now high,
We must drop the pretence and sigh.
Selflessness must not be a duty,
But a piece of internal beauty.
We must be the sky with no limits to see,
Like Tagore said,
'The soil in return for her service keeps the tree tied to her;
the sky asks nothing and leaves it free.'
The desire to help should come from within,
Cause a tender heart gives even when its roof is thin.
So serve the troubled.
Not for good works in your cart,
Rather, for the red that flows in your heart.
