A Bitter Reflection
In the garden of our love, I planted seeds with care,
Dreams of a future painted bright, adorned with hope laid bare.
I sought the best for you, my dear, each wish a gentle prayer,
I gave you what you’ve never known, a heart that would lay bare.
But as I watered every bloom, illusions turned to dust,
In shadows, I discovered truths entwined with broken trust.
Your laughter masked the whispered lies, sweet words turned to rust,
I tried to bridge your empty past, but found it was unjust.
I gave you sunsets filled with gold, a canvas rich and rare,
Yet now your distant eyes betray the secrets you ensnare.
Each promise made, a fleeting ghost, a fleeting, idle stare,
As I unraveled all our vows, I saw you didn’t care.
I opened wide my heart to you, an offering profound,
Bestowed affection without bounds, in love I thought I found.
But what I mistook for loyalty was just a deafening sound,
A hollow echo in the night, where trust could not rebound.
You danced with shadows, played your games, beneath a moonlit guise,
While I, the fool, believed in dreams, in laughter, and in ties.
But every sash of tenderness was layered with your lies,
And so, I stand alone to mourn, beneath these clouded skies.
The love I nurtured in my hands turned bitter on my tongue,
A melody that falters now, when once it sweetly sung.
I sought to dress your wounds in light, but darkness had you flung,
And in your grasp, a heart once pure became forever sprung.
I thought I’d lifted you to heights where happiness would soar,
Yet loyalty was but a mask, and nothing felt like before.
I cradled hopes and dreams for us, of evermore and more,
But now they drown in waters deep, upon a jagged shore.
You had a chance for something pure, for love devoid of strife,
But you traded it for fleeting thrills, for shadows in your life.
As I reflect upon our days, enshrined in endless night,
I see the warnings of my heart, concealed from my own sight.
In trying to be what you’d denied, I lost the best of me,
And through your actions, I awoke to find that I was free.
To sever ties that bind the soul to treachery and plea,
And reclaim the love I gave to you, for truly, it’s for me.
So here’s my bitter farewell, dear, for what we did not share,
A chapter closed, a lesson learned, in shadows where we stare.
May you seek truth in heart’s embrace, for love beyond compare,
And I will gather all my strength, to rise from your despair.
