A Break In Abyss
I was already sinking in an endless abyss
I had fallen apart
I was cut by the world's rigid edges
And I couldn't find a path.
Still I had to take that class,
So I dragged my tired body
like unfinished homework
Into a room I did not want to enter.
And then,
there you were.
In the same room with me
Same air, same silence, but something shifted.
The noise inside my head softened,
As if the room whispered "be still".
There was quiet in the air.
Stolen glances and little smirks.
You were mystery and I, Indiana Jones
And those eyes held treasure
Except this time,
the gold wasn’t hidden, it was the way your eyes
held mine
like something worth keeping.
And for the first time in weeks,
I wasn’t drowning.
But in the most excruciating way ever, my alarm tore through the silence.
I wake up to my ceiling
To the same rigid edges
To an unfinished feeling.
Still, I had to take that class
So I dragged my tired body
like unfinished homework
Into a room I did not want to enter.
