I built a bridge of hope across an ocean known as hate.
I tried to fight the feelings I had, the ones now I must negate.
I tried to smile brightly wearing a mask for a select few.
I did it to show the ones who needed me that I am over you.
I cried a river flowing, for so long that it turned red.
I am puzzled, all the blood I've cried and yet I'm still not dead.
I laid my wary head upon a bed once filled with life.
I soon came to realize that even sleep held for me such strife.
I slit my wrists profusely until my tan face turned white.
I even saw a glimpse of heaven beyond a great, bright light.
I realize now I'm walking as a lifeless corpse, a ghost.
I know that it all started when I lost what mattered most.
I now walk across the land without feeling, without a soul.
I paid the ultimate price on that sad night that you said no.
I kept the ring on my dog tags where I'll forever feel it beat.
I feel it beat every time the ground touches my ghostly feet.
I refuse to cry another tear and drown my self in sorrow.
I realize now that the life we had, wasted the time I borrow.
I walked across the beach and felt the sand between my toes.
I smelt the Seabreeze fiercely as the salty air pierced my nose.
I thought of you, just a second longer as I stared off into space.
I felt it there, you were gone and that sad look was off my face.
