They said I'd be safe, they'd care for me,
But left me with £50, a future I couldn't see.
No guidance, no hand to hold,
Just walls closing in, so cold.
Fifteen, thrown into a world so vast,
Independent living, no lessons to last.
They gave me the money, but no way to thrive,
With bills and hunger, how did I survive?
The roads were long, and the nights so cold,
No one to turn to, no stories told.
I walked the streets with shoes worn thin,
A child in the world, learning to spin.
Care was a promise they never kept,
With every step, my spirit wept.
They left me to fend, to learn, to fall,
But who was there to catch me at all?
The system's broken, it’s clear to see,
How can we be safe if we're left to be?
Children abandoned with no support,
Struggling alone, in a world so fraught.
It’s time to change, to fix what's wrong,
To give the care that’s been denied so long.
We’re not numbers, not stories untold,
We’re the future, with hearts so bold.
