Sometimes I wish I was a child again
I miss days where I felt comfortable in the rains
Dancing barefooted to the rhythm of rain drops
I had no reason to cry there
The raindrops that fell made my eyes red but my heart happy
Yes I do wish I was a child again
Skinned knees are better than broken hearts
Pain from a friend's bite soothed faster than a wounded image
And sore ankles healed sooner than a bleeding past.
The thought of being a child again
Gives laughter to my weary heart.
Sharing one candy with a friend is sweeter than kissing the wrong lips
And a broken tooth is better than broken virginity by the wrong guy.
Yes, sometimes I wish I was a child again
To let go easily
Forgive willingly
Love honestly
And play happily
I ought to be a child again
Not in my mind
But within my heart
I pray to be a child again
So his face I can see
To forgive seventy times seven
To pray for those who hate me
Share with those who can't afford
And be pure from inside out
Yes I want to be a child again.
