A conversation between light and darkness

A conversation between light and darkness
Darkness found me first.
It wrapped around my chest
like it knew exactly where to hold me
until breathing felt heavy.

The nights grew longer than my thoughts.
Silence spoke louder than voices,
and I wondered
if light had forgotten my name.

I sat with the dark for a while,
learning the language of shadows,
learning how pain can sit quietly
inside a beating heart.

But somewhere in the distance
a soft glow began to rise.
Not enough to erase the darkness,
but enough to remind me I was still alive.

Light did not rush in to save me.
It came slowly, gently,
like a hand reaching through the dark
asking if I was ready to stand again.

And maybe that is what hope is
not the absence of darkness,
but the quiet promise
that light will always find a way back. ♥️
