A kid once asked her,
"What are these?"
while pointing on the scars she had on her wrist.
"Did the cat do these?"
She hesitated to answer. She was shocked. Someone noticed. Should she lie? It's just a kid, it's okay not to lie. The kid wouldn't understand it anyway. But at least you were honest to her, and yourself. She battled with her mind for a while.
"Uhh, yes. A bad cat did those. A dark bad cat."
She lied.
Why be honest with a kid who wouldn't understand? Why bother letting the truth out when the one thing that you needed -- being understood -- is the very one thing the kid won't be able to give you? ... just like most people.
