A Day After I Killed Myself
A day after I killed
the version of me who carried everything
alone in the dark,
I woke up lighter
surprised that the sky still knew my name.
A day after I buried
the tired voice
that told me I was not enough,
I felt the soil shift,
making room
for something new to grow.
A day after I ended
the life of the person who was always afraid,
I found myself breathing deeper,
standing a little taller,
wearing a skin that fit again.
I did not die
I shed.
I did not disappear
I changed.
And the world,
for the first time in forever,
felt possible.
A day after I killed my old self,
I met the me
that was trying to be born
all along.
