A Deceitful Covering

Glancing over the shadows edge, she glittered.
A fairly stately maiden she is, yet so uninviting.
With sheer disdain and rancor I hasted with my judgement.
Though she sparkled in the dark, no shine did I see.
For I have been blinded by a deceitful Covering.
Oh my folly, have I judged a book by its cover?
With nature's will our path crossed once more
I fly back to my nest the morrow she says.
What bringeth thee from thy land of emeralds?
To spread love and joy, a call of nature all must heed.
Far nobler is she, for she still cast her darts of love.
Oh how wrongly I judged, for her covering was truth and love.
