A Deflated Balloon

A deflated balloon,
just how I remembered it,
released, when I thought I was immune.
Punctured in it's cocoon,
I hoped it was counterfeit.
A deflated balloon.
On good days I saw maroon.
Seems I was the culprit.
Released, when I thought I was immune.
Left alone under the moon,
I saw my mind determined to forfeit.
A deflated balloon.
Released, my only fortune,
emptier than I expected to admit.
Released, when I thought I was immune.
My mind chose its own tune,
collapsed, but moonlit,
a deflated balloon
released when I thought I was immune.
