A Different Morning After

When I tried to die,
A man screamed at me, crying,
And his voice hit me deeper and harder
Than any blade
Cut through my stomach and twisted up to my heart
But his tone grabbed it carefully and firmly,
And held on fast with one hand,
Using the other to towel off the bloody wounds,
And closed up my core with soft reassurances,
Being willing to trap himself with me.
It's the next day now, and
Be still my heart.
Here we are.
Living life, together.
