A Frightened Night

As I walk through the valley of death,
Holding on to my last breath,
I saw evil awakening by moonlight,
Bound to kill us all in one night.
Their good souls are gone,
Looking restless and drawn.
Some say we are the reason
For their ways of treason.
They swore to walk or crawl
To come and kill us all.
Here I am, standing with a merciful face,
Staring deep into space,
Hoping someone will have a lovely mind,
Searching in their hearts to find
A way to pardon me for my mistakes—
Just for goodness' sakes.
I hear their growling and laughter,
Hoping I am not the one they’re after.
For I know I've done many wrongs,
Even joined the devil in torturing songs,
But I’ve never killed a living being,
So then, why am I seeing
The deceased coming after me,
All with the look of a banshee?
I find myself in a ring,
Holding on to my last string,
Trying to get them to at least try and forgive I,
So I will keep my life and not die.
I see one with a knife
Coming near to take my life.
My heart starts to beat,
Along with my shivering feet.
One stands in between,
And they all say to me, "Happy Halloween!!"
