Sometimes I wish I was of a different gender.
Having to call the shots
Not being prejudiced to accept
what the society wants or says.
I live in a society where girls are seen as a burden
Married off at any early age because they feel nothing good can come out of them.
How I long for a revolution.
A time where my voice for greater things can be heard
Although I am silent, my actions shows my rebellion towards this barbaric act.
I long for a place where we could be seen as equals and treated with respect.
As I stare at my reflection in this weird wedding attire
I am resolved to taking the path no one has taken.
Run and never look back
Be free and never to be enslaved
This is my plight as I look towards the window
I pray for strength to carry out my plight.
