V

A heart that beats quietly

A heart that beats quietly
The cars and vehicles rush through the town,
My eyes track them reflecting their own light,
Alone I make do with a borrowed crown,
Chasing battles I choose to fight,

Books became my companion in time,
Their colours now on my canvas blank,
Travelling through them I live in several lives,
Hoping to be them, believing that I can,

In storms I walk through the path unknown,
For I don't fear the lonely walks or crowds,
Through thick and thin I've survived for long,
To know that the fake talks aloud,

Life is not for the weak, I've learned,
Life itself taught me harshly,
In cold I cradle the heart I've earned,
A heart that learned to beat quietly...
