A Leaf

The autumn breeze carries sadness for me,
As I watch the leaf on the tree.
It used to be a bright, vibrant green,
But now, it’s cast on the ground to be seen.
Nature changes swiftly, it’s true,
When the rolling season comes anew.
The changing hues, though bittersweet,
Mark the passing, I can’t compete.
The once proud, tall sapling now stares,
As I turn away in despair.
It’s too late all her beauty is gone,
Facing the sky, a new beauty dawns.
No longer the life of yester year,
Fades into a foggy, distant tear.
As I reminisce of all I remember,
I bid adieu, winter’s fast approaching ember.
