Where in this swarming flocks
With a basket filled with bannocks?
Ask I, a fair lady who seems familiar
Passing silently the midway thoroughfare
Wore a white bonnet lined with a ribbon
Turned partly; her face hid off my vision
Said nothing but gave a little bit of smile.
Away from my sight, she went far
With me, left a curiosity to know her.
At the riverside garden, where I take a rest
Day fell and sunset was clear in the West
And again there she was, the bonnet-lady
Stood by the river, her skin shone like ebony.
Said nothing but gave a little bit of smile.
Quite was she and appears to be solitary.
Back the half hidden face drove a memory
Of a young lady from a countryside valley,
Who for livelihood sell hot bannocks daily.
A story behind tells that she lived no more
And was not seen around further anymore!
Said nothing but gave a little bit of smile.
When the sun had gone, She wasn't there
Anymore. Up I walked, to the thoroughfare.
Nobody saw her, standing still in the way.
"The sight was only for me this whole day!"
Up she looked at me with a loving face
Ask I, why she came back in this place?
Said nothing but gave a little bit of smile.
