A love I chose to leave

A love I chose to leave
---
I won’t make vows my soul can’t bear,
Nor leave a heart in quiet despair.
I’ve seen how words can slowly break,
So I choose silence—for your sake.

I walk alone where dreams demand,
With empty skies and trembling hands.
This path is carved in pain and fire,
Not meant for love, not meant for “us” to aspire.

The thorns I bleed, the nights I fight,
Are battles hidden from your sight.
I won’t be the shadow in your sun,
Nor the reason your light comes undone.

The storms ahead may tear me apart,
But I refuse a fragile heart.
I won’t stand weak before my fate,
I’ll carry strength… even if it’s late.

If I asked you now to walk beside,
And tomorrow pulled us far and wide—
What would remain but broken air,
And echoes of a love laid bare?

So I become the one who leaves,
With unshed tears and silent grieves.
I place you where your roses grow,
While I embrace the dust I know.

Don’t ever name me faithless, please—
I loved you in the deepest seas.
But some loves burn, yet must be freed…
And some hearts break to let one breathe.
