For me,
home was a war I couldn't win,
a fight I couldn't flee.
I remember screams ringing in my ears like gun shots.
I remember bullet words breaking me open.
I remember my tormentor's eyes scavenging the room for more things to break.
I remember tears flooding and drowning me whole.
For me,
home was a dark place,
a torment that stripped me off my innocence.
