The boisterous revelry died down, dispersed, Sleep, kept at bay, pulling at the lids forcibly.
The wait seems long, your mate peeps, relieved,
You think of your bed calling out, comfortably,
Lulling you to sleep, long awaited, you think.
Eyes wide open, you are already onto your sleep.
The phone on the desk rings, making you blink,
In agony, letting out what the TV's beep.
The sweet voice of your sweet-heart on that side
Hammers down words, you wish you could hide,
It's over, the feeling's not the same, she'd snide.

You wish you had not picked up that very call,
