A NOTE FROM THE AFTERLIFE

Memories came rushing back
Memories of the things I wished I have done differently
The steps I wished I never took
How the darkest days gave birth to bright mornings like it would still have.
I pictured my mum's eyes red
Red from tears
How my dad would console her as he suppressed his tears.
I thought of my siblings that looked up to me
I thought of how I might have just broken my lady
She might end up doing the same
We spoke already about her coming to see my parents.

I just deprived the world of another shining star
A star I never saw until it was too late.
I held on for so long
But my strength finally failed me
I hit the bottom and there was none to pull me out
They could not hear my screams
They could not hear how loudly my emotions spoke
None got the hints from our conversations
None noticed how without words I cried for help until I caved completely from within.
But at that moment I genuinely wished I had done things differently for so much came to me in so little time
But the rope had tightened
And I held on struggling, gasping for air
Hoping I'd break free, although I knew the end had already come.
