A concave of yellows and blues
A chrysalis fall, had I only knew
The roots dug deep,
For a memory I kept to treat
And a plague...
I fell between the cracks as a battlefield slave
A war for ownership
And a sweetheart to save
Her scent was forced upon my mind
With a rifle to pave the way
And 100,000 other heroes...
All with fantasies the same way
...
Whatever we could tell ourselves
To face the falling petals of the day
We told ourselves everything was alright
We told ourselves the victory was worth the fight
We found a spiraling duality
Of force to claim the right
Until the petals all left on time
And the world's sins were left to bare
As another season's foliage were left over
Time and time again, to wither
The flowers had not learned their lesson
A Purple Heart concealed,
To bloom yet again
... Another day.
