a simple soul

A simple soul
She sat by a fire that barely glowed
blowing on her fingertips
Hoping some warmth will take hold
a small supper awaited
then off to a bed lonely, cold
the winter days seem so long
drag gray rags along the floor
why can't that beat stop
set her free
this simple soul
Just waiting
by a fire
that barely glowed
