A Trail of Degradation

The sky cries and
we protest her burden,
selfish with our
own adamant desires.
This earth has feasted
so long on pain and sorrow
that it's mouth has
disregarded the bitter taste,
now commonplace with the
slaughtering of her tongue.
Shattered and fragmenting
sunlight pours down like
memories reforming as
weighted shadows at our feet,
projecting an unsettling chill
toward all within a distant reach.
I want to hear the rain
kiss everything it sees
with a violent symphony
of acquiescence,
weakened yet
beautifully surrendered
to her story.
