A vow of a girl child

Dear Vagina,
You are a part of me,
But why do they label us as weak?
Why do they say we are impure?
Why do they make us feel unworthy?
You are the one that brings forth life,
Yet they see us as something to despise.
You are the one that bleeds each month,
Yet they make us feel like we are less than.
But I know the truth, dear Vagina,
You are not weak, impure, or unworthy.
You are strong, pure, and deserving of respect.
You are a symbol of life, of creation, of beauty.
It is not us who are flawed,
But those who cannot see beyond their own prejudice.
Those who seek to control and dominate,
Rather than to appreciate and celebrate.
Dear Vagina, I vow to stand up for you,
To honor and protect you from those who would harm you.
For you are a part of me, a sacred temple of life,
And I will defend you with all of my might.
