A Window to the past...
Strange how life catches up to you,
I've perfectly paced it, with my ambitions,
Decorated it with my hardwork and patience,
Hoping to achieve a future
I've always yearned for,
Sometimes, however, when I am alone,
During nights when the world is asleep,
That feeling hits me hard in the chest,
I've come so far...
I could still smell the rain
on soil when I was young,
The lazy afternoons when
I came home from school,
The hide and seek,
the songs we sung,
Like a window to the nostalgic evening,
And suddenly, my eyes felt moist,
Just like the rain kissed earth,
And here I am hoping I'd have a rebirth,
To the same old evening I always long for...
I still remember the trees we climbed on,
The rivers we dived in,
The fields we ploughed in
and the summers we soaked the sun in,
I've kept them cherished
in a small corner of my heart,
Decorated with fairy lights,
Like a night with millions of stars
resting up in the sky,
And when I have achieved
the future I long for,
I'd cradle these memories along with it,
I'd live the moments
I've hidden in my heart
And heal the child
who once was happy,
I...will be happy again...
