Abrasive phrases

Abrasive phrases, like blows, doth praise,
Religious secrets, hidden in a haze,
Jeopardized, unless closed eyes perceive,
Heap coal upon the faithful, who deceive.
Many slumber behind closed eyes,
And uphold the lies, religious ties,
So many clues, so many untruths,
Too many questions, too many rues.
Yet the congregation remains unaware,
Simple minds, the clergy's snare,
They know thou shalt never solve the riddle,
Listen closely to their silent fiddle.
Lost in a smile, twisted and warped,
On bended knees, thou seek to absorb,
Behold the invisible blood, divine,
Shed by thy Lord, to manipulate thine.
Today's but yesterday's tomorrow, alas,
As I weep for those in endless morass,
Yet here I stand, still unbelieving,
In this world of constant deceiving.
