Believe what you want.
My jacket is not to keep me warm,
but to conceal my addiction.
The one that laughs at me in the morning,
and screams at me during the night.
Each morning I get reminded,
of all the affliction you have caused me.
Like when you said 'I love you',
then hit me because I didn't say it back.
The quiver in my arm,
from your punches;
feels like a cat,
one lost and abandoned;
who is crying for help.
It's the bruises that remind me,
of how I got caught up in this mess.
I told myself it was the drinking;
the saying up all night with the vodka,
I thought that was the problem,
but I was wrong.
The drug in me is you,
and I'm so high on misery,
can't you see?
No matter how much you torment me,
I keep crawling back to you.
Like a neglected child asking for affection,
I can't leave you,
all because you tricked me.
You acted all innocent,
and lured me in,
just to take advantage of me.
Before it was the words,
the ones used by my classmates;
that strangled my emotions,
but now it's you.
You have mixed-up my emotions,
and thus caused me to become numb.
I have lost all feeling,
but one thing...
Your fist.
When it thrashes my arm;
leaving the bruises,
it's my reminder,
that I am living.
