AFRICA, MY HOME

AFRICA, MY HOME

I've lived too long in Rome,

A foreign place that's not my home.

I'm stuck within this lonely room,

Can't wait to leave and get back home.

My homeland is my kingdom,

The truest source of lasting freedom.

Here, I am utterly unwelcome,

I long for the day I can overcome.

I sought a life of fortune, far from home,

But now I'm bound within this gloomy room.

I see no way for my poor soul to roam,

Awaiting my inevitable doom.

I pray I soon return to where I'm from—

To Africa, my true and loving home.

For there, my spirit will be whole, not numb,

On the day I finally get back home.
