Every day I struggle to complete one assignment, to finish one term paper
I stumble out of bed to class on some days
Knowing that a part of my consciousness is still in bed under the comfy blue duvet
I've come so close to giving up on so many occassions
On some days I get to that point where I am almost giving up
I ask myself time and time again
Why I have to fight with my body to stay up at night
Why I have to slave over some textbooks
Why I have to do group work with some social loafers
Why I have to please those horrible teachers
Why I have to go to school at all
Why I can't just drop out of school and enjoy my life
But when those thoughts come
I also think about the joy that will be on my parents' faces as they watch their daughter go on to collect her certificate
I think about the joy that would flood my heart as I climb up that stage
In my cap and my robe, grinning for the whole world to see
Whispering to myself, 'I did it. I made it. I didn't give up. I didn't quit. My struggles did pay off'
