Amie And I:
Amie and I,
At one point never saw eye to eye,
There were so many times,
I told her multiple lies,
While I was getting high,
I never wanted to be that type,
She never knew the honest person I can be,
And that I am honest, loyal and Faithful to the bone,
I never gave up hope,
Until one day my emotions took control,
Then the drugs were easy access,
And I'm not addicted to the boose,
I wish I never picked up that stupid bubble,
When I was nineteen years old,
It was supposed to numb all my pain,
She once said,
But it didn't,
She lied to me,
How could this be?
I thought we were friends till the very end,
I guess I saw how fast that went to the wind,
Once I quit using and wanted to get clean,
You just wanted to use me for more money,
For your damn dope,
Back to Amie and I,
Man she is so kind,
I don't know why,
I treated her like she was a horrible mankind,
At first I thought she hated me,
But in all actuality,
It was me hating myself,
She held herself well,
I got clean,
But not just for me,
But for Amie to see,
That the lies and anger,
Weren't in my true nature,
She was just as shocked as I,
Once we started getting along!
Who would've known,
A client could've bonded with their Legal Guardian,
I show care and concern for her,
Her role is to look out for my safety and well being,
And she takes that role very seriously,
That's why when I finally reached out for help with my addiction,
She got me into short term drug and alcohol treatment,
I begged and pleaded to get me help,
That I couldn't stop myself from smoking dope,
At the time the longest I had ever been clean,
Was 7 days. 8 hours and 38 minutes,
But she still wasn't pleased with me,
Now I'm 64 days clean,
And she is having problems finding long term treatment for me,
Because insurance won't cover me to stay if I'm over 60 days sober,
So far all of the treatment facilities have suggested.
Looking into intensive outpatient,
However Amie's bound determined,
To find a placement,
But what she don't know,
Is I prayed 🙏 to God,
The day I got discharged from short term treatment,
That was the end of inpatient treatment,
and that I'd be free and live independently,
I think God is answering my prayer,
I'm sorry Amie,
But this is one of those moments,
Where you and I,
Are not seeing eye to eye,
I know I can live on my own successfully,
If given a second chance,
I promised already,
I'd attend all appointments,
Including Intensive Outpatient,
And mental health providers along with my PCP ( Primary Care Provider),
Attend NA meetings everyday of the week and get a sponsor and start volunteering at some places,
Please learn to trust me?
I know I've messed that up big time,
And I'm trying to show you I'm working overtime,
To prove to you that my recovery is my top priority,
I love my life, my therapist, my Guardian and my fiancee,
But most of all I'm learning to love me!
