I Ask those to take a poem and write out your hearts and tears,
Tell your feelings to the trouble earth and hold your poem up to the airs,
Or press your ears against the sheet,
Hear your poem talk to the beat,
I say drop a bird into your poem and watch it lope it's way out of the heat,
I ask you to walk into the poem world and feel it's curves to turn on a light switch,
Swim around the surface of your beautiful poem waving at your name on the top edge,
Tie your poem to a chair with a rope and beat a confession or a response out of it with a sledge,
Now, begin punching it with your fist to find out the real true meaning of it.
