An ode to a dog
An ode to a dog
I wish I could toss the ball one more time
To see you so happy running after it
I really enjoyed our walks together
Three to four times a day kept me fit
I wish I could throw the frisbee once more
To feel wetness after it's covered in spit
I wish I could watch you eat your meals
The bones you chewed and had split
I wish I could see you laying across my feet
Watching you there was so comforting
I wish I could watch you sleeping again
The light kicks , in your dreams running
I wish I could hear you bark one last time
A deep bark, some might say thundering
I wish I could hear you ask to go out again
You would go potty , in the yard wandering
I wish I could smell the way your fur was wet
That distinguishing odour of wet doggy
I wish I could smell your blanket one last time
That smell I remember strongly and fondly
I wish I could look into your brown eyes again
You had the most handsomest doggy face
I wish I could go back in time to see you
You have made doggy heaven a better place
