Applause
When the stadium erupts
and your bat rises to the sky
after a blazing hundred,
after a rare double century—
the world will chant your name.
You may not see me there
in the roaring crowd.
Not because I don’t care,
but because applause
has thousands of voices—
and you won’t need mine then.
Everyone loves a hero
when the scoreboard glows.
Even strangers
try to stand close to glory.
But cricket is a cruel game.
There will be days
when the pitch betrays you,
when the runs disappear,
when the same crowd
questions your worth.
On those silent evenings—
look beside you.
You will find me there.
Not as a fan.
Not as someone chasing your fame.
But as the one
who loves you
beyond the runs,
beyond the records,
beyond the applause.
I may not always
share your victories,
but I promise
to carry your defeats
half and half.
And if one day
the stadium forgets your name,
the lights fade,
and the world moves on—
remember this:
Even then,
when you have nothing left
but your bruised heart
and an unfinished innings—
I will still be there
standing quietly
at your end of the pitch. 🏏
