Today has been a hot one
A near one hundred degrees
I bumped into a friend
So the moment I had to seize...
I asked her over for a meal
To escape the heat of the day
We decided to bus to WallyMart
Talking about life along the way...
We decided upon steaks thick
Two excellent New York strips
Something cold to drink later
A straw though lots of ice sip...
So here I am cooking a tasty meal
Before I new it my friend was fast asleep
Her steak I wrapped and set aside
Tonight or tomorrow, her steak will keep...
Sleeping wherever, finding a safe place
I'll let her sleep for a long as she needs
Then I'll see her smiling again
For deep in my heart she planted a seed...
Friendship may quickly come and go
With this sweetest of sweet friends
I think for awhile hers I'll savour and cherish
Maybe until this life quietly softly ends...
