I withered like a leaf one afternoon
Trembled like a rose that evening
Sang a song reminiscing the old times gone by
Moved to the music playing on the old radio, creating images in my mind
Looked at the empty inkpot kept on my side,
Read the poetry that I had written you that morning, pages and pages full of love
Tried tracing the bedsheet with my fingers, touching the spots where you sleep
Went to the washroom and smiled thinking of how you stand in front of the mirror listening to songs
Started reading when my heart ached for you,
Stood up and felt dizzy because of my emotions,
Searched for solace in the moon, but the sky reminded me of you
Tried to reason with myself and shut my eyes to sleep
Opened them to find you missing, and my tears couldn't stop
Finally closed them for the last time,
and saw us together under the same tree where I had withered,
I became one with you at last,
nothing between us anymore,
No one to ask.
