I am sitting outside after midnight
Smoking a cigarette on the stairs
Cars go past every once in awhile
Travelling quickly to their affairs
I'm writing this poem in the dark
Except for the streetlights
Crickets and bugs very active
I can hear them in the grass tonight
The rain arrived earlier today
Making everything very wet
But it dried up soon after
Nature liked the rain I bet
I took a break from writing this
And now it is around two am
But I'm continuing now to end it
I will lay down to sleep if I can
