Purple August, drawing near,
A day for me, held ever dear,
To wish for life, dispel all fear.
A leafy hint, a verdant grace,
To banish emptiness from its place,
With gentle tears that rain embrace.
A smile in hues of red and green,
A vibrant, hopeful, joyful scene,
For this one day, my life to glean.
To wish upon this turning year,
For all the days that will appear,
