Awakened

I am awakened by a midnight call
to boundless trails without fetter,
not by gauntlet nor by thrall
but by consent and so the better
I am awakened not to swain or sway,
nor avarice, dubiety or strait,
no hand save none can turn astray
a soul made strong by wait
I am awakened by a spray of light
at first blush, but some things not,
as dreams that tarried in the night
are swiftly faded then forgot
