Awkward

The awkward silence is like a thick fog
That hangs in the air and won't let go.
It's like a heavy weight that's pressing down
On my chest, making it hard to breathe.
The awkward silence is like a needle
Pricking at my skin, making me squirm.
It's like a loud noise that's ringing in my ears,
Making it hard to think or even hear.
The awkward silence is like a dark cloud
That's hanging over my head and won't go away.
It's like a cold wind that's blowing through me
Making me shiver and want to hide.
I wonder when the awkward silence will lift?
I want to be able to think and hear and feel, again.
Until then I will push through the awkward silence I live in.
