Backwards

Backwards
For a slight moment of happiness, I'd walk backwards
In search of what's broken I ripped my chest open and plucked my heart out to make sense of all its pieces
A piece i burnt, a piece i buried
A piece i planted, a piece i preserved
A piece i let rot, a piece i bequeathed to others
A piece i chewed and swallowed, a piece i tasted and spitted out
A piece i kept in, a piece i thrown out
In every worldly seasons and emotional stages i put a piece
In every corners of the world i placed a piece
On every milestones i laid a piece
I had my name sentimentally carved on a piece
On a rock i mounted a piece, into the deep of a sea i sunk a piece
Could the piece i thrown in the air never touch the ground
I know the piece that burnt my world to the ground
Could they be found, then brought back together
Oh, could they be mended and again beat the sounds of life
There's a piece I'm afraid of that's left inside of me, for it is rid of the means to strive and robbed of the will to thrive; lo, Tis a squashed piece that craves freedom
For a slight moment of happiness I'd walk backwards but, I've lost a piece to time and alas, Tis the piece that knew peace
