Bars Of Steel

The cold bars of steel bite,
Locked darkness enslaved,
Left at the harshest,
No freedom left saved,

Once again this is my home,
Steel barred and locked away,
Nights as my only friend,
Stripped away forever day,

My soul has adapted well,
And now accepts what's sure to come,
It has been taught all to well,
To remain so empty and numb,

As every light that is shown,
A darkness will quickly follow,
With all the hope that may fall,
Through these holes become hollow,

I am at home behind these bars,
For my hands will forever feel,
The cold and imprisoning presence,
Of my soul's bars of steel.
