BEAUTIFUL PAIN

Pain is a good old friend
In time, we are at the opposite end
We have seen better days
When we had dinner on golden trays
And basking in the sunny sun rays
She was a beautiful melanin
At first I thought I was dreaming
Even tho it was like falling into an abyss
She is the one I still miss
On her lips I would plant one last kiss
The past and it's content doesn't matter
In the present we all have to gather
Time is not the enemy
She wouldn't even save my penny
Alas I didn't even have any
In my dreams she is a silhouette
A contemporary queen in her quiet
An African goddess, quondam my empress
But now a damsel in distress
Her arid tears can't fill her emptiness
The gentle beach waves worshipped our feet
Our heart skipped a beat
Though singing a beautiful chorus in sync
She is my Achilles heel
Because I still love this beautiful pain
