i used to feel beautiful
Before forced workouts and diet pills
Before she turned the scale-
Into my Bible
And my Bible
Into my rulebook
Every mistake etched within pages
That I've become reluctant to read
I used to feel beautiful
Before babies ruined my "image"
An image you've been eager to change
Since puberty
An image I've grown to hate
It's funny
That someone who claims to be Christian
Can tear someone down
Until they no longer feel beautiful
Beauty- is in the eye of the beholder
And mom you're the beholder.
You've made food into the enemy
At first I forced meals down a closed throat
Just to watch it come back later
Eventually I stopped fighting
Which meant I stopped eating
But it was a small price to pay
You finally smiled when you saw me
Complimented how I looked
To you I finally looked beautiful
