Silence
An empty hallway
Dusty and filled with doors
Behind each door a new terror awaits
A hush, a swish, an act of betrayal
Memories kept locked inside
A helping hand, a kind face shrouded in mist
Part of the pain caused inside
A roar, a dull thud
Years of agony waiting to be set free
Why should any of the doors be open
The monsters of darkness should be kept within the darkness they created
Years of a carefully woven life fall apart
The monsters eager to get back in
To make spiderweb cracks of the sanity that has been hard fought for
Ready to disperse the peace that took courage to build
Ready to devour the single flame
and swallow whole the consciousness
