Believe in the Curious Dreamers: Continue reading

(Class starts)
Mr. Perry: Jesus can you hit the lights for me and close the blinds, please?
Jesus: Sure.
Mr. Perry: Thank you, okay guys, here are the dream yoga steps to lucid dreaming, these are notes from a famous dream expert name Stephen Laberge, he goes into the depths of lucid dreaming and how it is performed, I want you all to copy these notes down to help you prepare and perform the dream experiment. Okay
      Step One
Is comprehending the nature of the dream-state that it is a dream, and thus, a construction of the mind.
Mr. Perry: That means, once you close your eyes, and start dreaming, the lucidity of you moving objects, altering people, you flying in the air, that all can tell you that you are dreaming.
    Step Two
Transmitting the dream-content practicing the transformation of dream control until one experimentally understands that all the contents of dreaming consciousness can be changed by will and that dreams are essentially unstable.
Mr. Perry: That means once you start the experiment, you are in control of your dreams, you have the ability to alter your dreams.
 Step Three
•Realizing the dream-state, or dream-content to be Maya i.e. that everything that appears in the dream is a mental construction.
Jesus: What does Maya means?
Mr. Perry: In Hindu, Maya means illusion, that means realizing all the things you dream are illusions of your mind, dreaming is our imagination.
Step Four
•Meditating on the thatness of the dream-state realizing that the sensory experience of the waking consciousness are just illusory as dreams and that in a sense, it is all a dream.
Mr. Perry: Means to recognize the things in your dreams, the visual things for example, when you see an image of people sitting in one room, that you see yourself in, and that is the same type of image or things that are in your waking state, which seems real to us.
    Step Five
•The dreamer should realize that the dreamer's dream body is as insubstantial as the other objects in the dream. The dreamer should realize that he or she is not the dream body. The dreamer who has gained complete control over dream objects could, for instance, alter the body's shape or make the dream body disappear altogether.
Mr. Perry: I know you guys understand this step clearly, correct?
The Class: Yeah.
(Bell rings)

Mr. Perry: Okay this is step six, the last step, I want you all to copy this step down before you leave, it says
The images of deities should be visualized in the lucid dream state. These figures are frequently seen in Tibetan religious art (thangkas) and used in meditation. They are said to be linked to or resonate with the clear light of the Void. They can therefore serve as symbolic doorways to this mystical state of being (the Void or clear light). The dreamer is instructed to concentrate on these symbolic images without distraction or thinking about other things so that the revelatory side of these symbols will become manifest.
Mr. Perry: That means to perform this experiment you have to focus on the experiment, try not to think about nothing else but what you are dreaming, you guys got that?
The class: Yeah.
Mr. Perry: Okay, you guys have two more days to prepare for Saturday, see you guys tomorrow.
